CTA Loop Renewal

The $33.8 million project replaced more than two miles of elevated rail and track components that were installed in the early 1980s. It also replaced most elements of the track bed including ties, walkways, etc. The Loop ‘L’ is the heart of the CTA rail system. G.W. Peoples completed a $4.8 million track work portion of the project, providing a full-time yard crew to coordinate materials staging and logistics, and furnished and installed all new DF fasteners, pine track ties, hook bolts, SRS cast tie plates and walkway ties on tangent and curved track. The company also furnished and installed all new 80’ running rail and insulated joints
